Why they go together

Epitalon alone extends the replicative capacity of cells by slowing telomere shortening. But if the immune system can't identify and clear senescent or damaged cells, longevity gains at the chromosomal level are undermined. Thymalin restores the immune surveillance that removes the cells that shouldn't replicate further. But this is because cancer cells have already undergone oncogenic transformation. Epitalon activates telomerase in normal somatic cells without oncogenic transformation — the published data shows no increased cancer incidence in the Khavinson studies. The Kossoy study specifically documented telomerase activation without cellular transformation. The distinction is the cell state, not the telomerase activity itself.
